With Ernesto Sandoval
Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – 7:00 pm Pacific Time
NOTE: Members and visitors can attend in person in San Francisco, or watch on Zoom. See important Covid requirements and location info at right.
Program Description
Join us for a unique hands-on session with one of our favorite speakers, Ernesto Sandoval.
After giving some key insights into what succulent plants want, participants will try their hands at Ernesto’s methods of propagating cactus and Aloe seeds, making cuttings of Stapeliads and Crassulaceae, and transplanting a succulent needing a slightly larger container.
All of these activities will include take home materials provided by the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory. Although we will do our best to document the experience for Zoom viewers, we hope the live activities and the free plants will tempt some of you back for an in-person meeting!
As manager and curator of the Conservatory, Ernesto spends most of his days cultivating plants, keeping the greenhouses in order, and sharing his extensive knowledge of plant science with visitors. Over the years he’s given at least 11 talks to our club on topics from Baja to South Africa, propagation, and various aspects of plant physiology and care. In addition to his plants, these days he and his wife are also raising two young children.
Show and Tell: Anything in flower. Anything you’ve frown from seed.
