100 John F Kennedy Dr, San Francisco, CA 94118

The Golden Gate Park Arizona Garden in 1883, shortly after it was created showing the long removed “Golden Stair” that echoed the design of the Conservatory of Flowers.

Each month, Society members and visitors can learn about gardening and contribute to their community by helping with our long-term efforts at this historic garden in Golden Gate Park.
Arizona Garden info (including maps, plants, history) coming soon.

Monthly Event Description

Learn succulent gardening and propagation techniques with S.F. Succulent Society volunteers and Golden Gate Park staff. This is a great way to be active in the Society, even if you can’t make it to our regular Tuesday night meetings.

Participants will contribute to our long-term transformation of the succulent displays at the Historic Arizona Garden next to the Conservatory of Flowers. Activities include weeding, pruning, new bed preparation, planting, and propagating.

Directions

On Public Transit – The Muni 5 Fulton and get off at Arguello. Enter at the Arguello Gate from the North side of the park, walk up over the hill and down into the garden..

the 7 Haight takes you along the south side of the park. Get off at the end of Haight street and the walk isn’t too bad.

The N Judah is too far south to be useful, and the 44 goes into the park west of the garden but both leave you with a much longer walk than taking the 5 Fulton.

By Car – Approach from the North and enter the park at the Arguello Gate (Arguello & Fulton). Drive up the hill till Arguello ends and park there along Conservatory Drive. Parking is generally available, but note that many special events (Bay to Breakers, Aids Walk, Concerts, etc) disturb parking and driving in the park. Observe all posted signs to avoid tickets and towing.

As no cars are allowed on JFK drive, it is hard to approach by car from the south, but the closest access would be near the tennis courts. There is also a paid lot under the museum concourse.
