The Gardens at Lake Merritt, Succulent Garden in August 2024

Each month, Society members and visitors can learn about gardening and contribute to their community by helping with our long-term efforts at this historic succulent garden in Golden Gate Park.

Monthly Event Description

This is a great way to be active in the Society, even if you can’t make it to our regular Tuesday night meetings.

Participants will become part of our long-term transformation of the succulent displays at the Arizona Garden, an area first built in the 1800’s next to the Conservatory of Flowers.

Learn succulent gardening and propagation techniques with S.F. Succulent Society volunteers and Golden Gate Park Gardening Captain Shayde Sartin.

How to attend

Just show up! Come any time between 10am and 2:30pm, and stay as long as you are able.

Guests and non-members welcome. This event is free.

Contact Jon Schwark with questions (contact info on last page of the newsletter).

No cars are allowed on JFK drive. We suggest taking Muni and walking in, but if you want to park, you will have a much easier time if you come just a little bit early before the crowds hit the park. There is also a paid lot near the museums.

On public transit – the N Judah and the 7 Haight take you along the south side of the park, but this is a slightly longer walk than TAKING THE 5 McAllister and entering from the North side.

Find us in the succulent area of the garden.
