Spiny Succulents

By Jeff Moore
Tuesday, February 18, 7:00 pm

NOTE: This month’s meeting will be held in the Recreation Room. It is adjacent to the Auditorium in the same San Francisco County Fair Building. Because the Rec Room is smaller, there will be no Show & Tell plants for this month.

At our February meeting, Jeff Moore will give a presentation about his new book titled Spiny Succulents. It will follow the flow of the book, which features the various spiny succulent groups: cacti, euphorbias, pachypodiums, alluaudias, fouquierias, terrestrial bromeliads and a few others. Included are some spiky plants which are not really succulents, but appeal to succulent growers, such as cycads. Jeff will talk about growers and collectors and cultural issues a bit, as well as crested/ variegated and other anomalous plants, and as always will take questions as he goes.

Jeff has owned and operated Solana Succulents in Solana Beach (San Diego County) since 1992, and began doing self-published books in 2014. His previous books are Under the Spell of Succulents, Aloes and Agaves in Cultivation, and Soft Succulents, and he has come to our meetings to give talks on these in past years. He is married and has two grown sons.

Jeff will also be this month’s featured grower.

Due to the smaller size of the meeting room this month, there will be NO Show & Tell plants.
