The Golden Gate Park Arizona Garden in 1883, shortly after it was created showing the long removed “Golden Stair” that echoed the design of the COnservatory of Flowers.

Each month, Society members and visitors can learn about gardening and contribute to their community by helping with our long-term efforts at this historic garden in Golden Gate Park.
Arizona Garden info (including maps, plants, history) coming soon.

Monthly Event Description

Learn succulent gardening and propagation techniques with S.F. Succulent Society volunteers and Golden Gate Park staff. This is a great way to be active in the Society, even if you can’t make it to our regular Tuesday night meetings.

Participants will contribute to our long-term transformation of the succulent displays at the Historic Arizona Garden next to the Conservatory of Flowers. Activities include weeding, pruning, new bed preparation, planting, and propagating.

How to attend

Contact Jon Schwark with questions (contact info on last page of the newsletter).

By Car – We suggest taking Muni and walking in, but if you want to drive, approach from the North side of the park, entering at the Arguello Gate on Fulton. Drive up the hill till Arguello ends and park there on Conservatory Drive. Parking is generally available there, but note that many special events (Bay to Breakers, Aids Walk, Concerts, etc) disturb parking and driving in the park.

As no cars are allowed on JFK drive, it would be very hard to approach by car from the south, but the closest access would be near the tennis courts. There is also a paid lot under the museum concourse.

On Public Transit – Best to take the Muni 5 Fulton and get off at Arguello. Enter at the Arguello Gate from the North side of the park, walk up over the hill and down into the garden..

the N Judah and the 7 Haight take you along the south side of the park. THe 44 goes into the park west of the garden but both leave you with a much longer walk than taking the 5 Fulton.
