Ron Parsons
Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – 7:00 pm Pacific Time (California)

Members and visitors can attend in person in San Francisco,
or register or join the meeting in progress on Zoom.
Program Description
This presentation is a collection of photos taken by Ron on countless excursions to see wildflowers throughout the western United States. The many kinds of cacti and succulents he encountered were found not only in desert habitats, but in a wide variety of places from coastal to alpine – and he is not finished exploring!
About our Speaker
Ron has been a member of SFSCS for over 20 years, but his expertise is mainly in orchid species. He has co-authored five books on plants with his friend Mary Gerritson, four on orchids and one on Calochortus, an genus of North American bulbs. He is an accomplished photographer with 6,500 published photos. He travels extensively, both domestically and internationally, to photograph wildflowers of all kinds, and he regularly visits private collections and botanical gardens. Besides orchids, he collects Haworthia, the smaller Gasteria and Aloe species, some cacti, cool-tolerant Tillandsia species, and carnivorous plants.
Show & tell table: Kalanchow on the succulent side, and Ferocactus on the cactus table, Adenia pachyforms, plus anything else that’s looking good or in flower.
Featured grower: TBD.
Snack table:, There will be a shared spread, but we suggest bringing something every couple of months if you partake regularly. As a thought, we are often short on drinks.
